01Can my roof carry tile?
If it has tile now, yes. If it has shingle, an engineer has to say so first. Tile weighs about ten pounds a square foot.
02Do you reuse the old tiles?
Where they are sound, yes, and it takes a good part of the cost out. Cracked and slipped ones are replaced with a match.
03Why is the underlayment the expensive part?
Because the tile has to come off to reach it. The tile is the umbrella; the underlayment is the raincoat, and it is what actually keeps the water out.
